LEWISTON, Maine -- In a wild finish at Garcelon Field, senior

Caroline Keating converted a free-position goal with 12 seconds remaining to lift the Bates women's lacrosse team to a 12–11 Senior Day victory over Hamilton on Saturday.

Bates improves to 6-6 overall and 2-5 in NESCAC play, earning its second-straight conference win in dramatic fashion.

With the score tied at 11–11 after Hamilton's game-tying man-up goal with 26 seconds left, the Continentals were assessed a yellow card on their goalkeeper just 12 seconds later—leaving the net empty and setting up a final free-position opportunity for the Bobcats. Keating capitalized, firing home the decisive goal.

The Bobcats honored 11 seniors prior to the game:

Amanda Edge,

Clare McGeever,

Grace Yonchak,

Julia Roelofs,

Lauren Wong,

Zoe Schaedle,

Frankie Franz,

Kailah Greenberg,

Raegan White,

Sarah Jane Gavin, and Keating.

Bates and Hamilton traded momentum throughout. The teams were tied 4-4 after one before the Bobcats surged in the second quarter, scoring five times—including a goal from

Sarah Stavrovich with seven seconds left—to take a 9-6 halftime lead.

Hamilton (4-6, 2-4 NESCAC) responded in the third, trimming the deficit to 11–9 entering the fourth, and continued to apply pressure late. A man-up goal from

Julia Lee

cut the lead to one with 6:50 remaining, and Grace MacLean's extra-player tally with 26 seconds left appeared to force overtime.

Instead, Bates had one final answer.

Laci Raveis led Bates with three goals and an assist, while Lucy Taylor added a goal and three assists. Stavrovich and Wong each scored twice, with Wong also contributing an assist. Roelofs caused three turnovers whole scooping up a team-high four ground balls.

Virginia Avery earned the win in goal with five saves over 50:45 of work. White earned the start in cage for the Bobcats, collecting a save in her overall time of 9:15.

The garnet and white will take to the road for its next action this Wednesday, a 5:00 p.m. showdown at No. 2 Tufts in Medford, Mass.
