Kleinhans pitched in a pair of games, including a combined shutout over Cornell

PRINCETON, N.J. — Columbia senior right-hander Evan Kleinhans has been named Ivy League Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced Monday.

Kleinhans turned in a dominant two-outing stretch against Brown and Cornell, combining for 9.1 innings while allowing just one run on seven hits and striking out five.

He began the week with a brief appearance out of the bullpen against the Bears, marking his fifth consecutive outing, and worked a clean inning on Wednesday.

Kleinhans followed with a standout performance in a pivotal doubleheader against Cornell, tossing 8.1 scoreless innings in a 2-0 victory in game two. He scattered six hits, struck out five and became the first Columbia starter this season to pitch into the ninth inning.

The honor marks the first Ivy League Pitcher of the Week selection for Columbia since Thomas Santana earned the distinction on April 29, 2024.

With two wins against the Big Red, Columbia officially clinched the fourth and final spot in the Ivy League Tournament. The conference tournament will be held from May 15-18, which will be hosted by either Penn or Yale, pending the results of the Bulldogs' series against Dartmouth next weekend.
