Four Women's Basketball Players Selected to CSC Academic All-District Team
CHICAGO -- The University of Chicago women's basketball team placed four players on the CSC Academic All-District Team, as released by College Sports Communicators on Tuesday afternoon. The four student-athletes earning Academic All-District honors include Kate Gross, Chris Sanders, Annabelle Spotts, and Caroline Workman.

Caroline Workman.
Kate Gross appeared in all 28 games with 23 starts for the Maroons, and she led the team with 2.1 assists per game and averaged 7.1 points and 2.3 rebounds in 29.9 minutes of action. The Downers Grove, Illinois native caps off her career with 101 games played and 73 starts, appearing in all but five games in her career. She tallied career totals of 673 points, 308 rebounds, 164 assists, 57 steals, and 40 blocks, and she hit 80 threes in her career.
Chris Sanders led the Maroons to one of the top seasons in school history this season, leading the Maroons with 31.5 minutes per game and 27 starts, as she started every game except for senior day. The sophomore from Bloomfield Hills, Michigan averaged double figures with 10.1 points per game, shooting 41% from the floor and 35% from long range, and she added 3.0 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.3 steals per game. She also scored a career-high 25 points in the Regional Final of the NCAA Tournament, shooting 10-15 from the floor en route to a road victory over #24 UW-Whitewater. During her two-year career with UChicago, Sanders has tallied career totals of 396 points, 146 rebounds, 82 assists, and 64 steals heading into her junior season.
Annabelle Spotts appeared in all 28 games this season with 25 starts, and she scored a team-high 11.7 points per game on 42% shooting from the floor and 37% from the outside. The sophomore from Newport Beach, California also averaged 5.9 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 0.9 steals per game this season for the Maroons, and she scored a season-high 22 points in the Sectional Final game at #4 UW-Oshkosh. Over the past two years, Spotts has tallied career totals of 474 points, 269 rebounds, 47 assists, 40 steals, and 34 blocks heading into her junior season.
Caroline Workman also appeared in all 28 games this season, recording 20 starts, while playing 25.9 minutes per game on the year. The senior from La Grange, Illinois did all of the little things for the Maroons this season, averaging 4.4 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.0 blocks per game. Workman recorded multiple career highs this season, including 16 points in the win over Rose-Hulman and 10 rebounds in the win over #24 UW-Whitewater. Overt the past four years, Workman tallied career totals of 267 points, 284 rebounds, 95 assists, 61 steals, and 47 blocks.
The UChicago women's basketball team finished their season with a 20-8 record overall and 9-5 in the UAA. The Maroons also reached the National Quarterfinals for just the second time in program history with NCAA Tournament wins over (RV) Gustavus Adolphus, #24 UW-Whitewater, and #7 Hope before falling to #4 UW-Oshkosh in the Sectional Finals. UChicago wrapped up the season ranked #6 in the D3hoops.com Top-25 poll and #9 in the WBCA Coaches Poll. The #6 ranking in the D3hoops.com poll is the highest ranking for the Maroons since Week 2 of the 2018-19 season when the Maroons were ranked #5.
CSC Academic All-District Team honorees are selected by the national organization based on combined academic and athletic performance. Nominees must have a GPA above 3.50 in at least their sophomore year and have played in 90% of their team's games or have started 67% of their team's games.
Chris Sanders and
Annabelle Spotts will advance to the Academic All-America ballot, which will be voted on by sports information directors nationwide. The 2026 Academic All-America Team will be announced on Wednesday, April 15.
