#17 Women's Basketball Ends Season in Elite Eight with Loss at #4 UW-Oshkosh
OSHKOSH, Wis. – The 17th-ranked University of Chicago women's basketball team closed out its 2025-26 season in the Elite Eight against Wisconsin-Oshkosh after falling 73-56. The Maroons finish the year with a 20-8 overall record and a trip to the round of eight for the only the second time in school history.

The opening quarter was a back-and-forth match as UChicago jumped in front early. After the Titans scored the game's first basket,
Alexis Clark and
Kate Gross answered from two scores inside the paint, and
Annabelle Spotts knocked down a three midway through the period to give the Maroons a five-point lead. UW–Oshkosh responded late in the quarter, but Clark hit another jumper to tie the game at 11 heading into the second.
UChicago briefly pulled ahead early in the second quarter as Gross scored clutch back-to-back baskets to give the Maroons a 17–13 advantage with just over seven minutes remaining in the half. The Titans responded with a run, however, scoring 17 of the final 18 points of the quarter. Heading into halftime, UW-Oshkosh held a 30-17 lead.
The Titans powered through the third quarter, continuing to build the lead. The Maroons fought back as freshman
Zora Burrell sparked a push, capitalizing on a layup off a steal from Clark to trim the deficit to 14. UW-Oshkosh maintained control, taking a strong advantage heading into the fourth.
UChicago continued to battle down the stretch. Spotts led a late scoring surge, connecting on baskets in and outside the paint that helped the Maroons cut the margin to under 20 in the final minutes. Clark added a tough three-point play, and Gross finished a layup inside in the closing minute. The Maroons continued to battle as Spotts buried her third three of the quarter to close out the game 73–56.
Spotts led all Maroons with 22 points, including a 4-for-6 performance from beyond the arc. Gross added 12 points, while Clark finished with nine points and four rebounds. Off the bench, Burrell contributed seven points, four rebounds, and four steals.
Despite the loss, the Maroons capped another strong season with 20 victories and a their first Elite Eight appearance in over a decade.
