#21 Seed Women's Basketball to Head to UW-Whitewater for NCAA Tournament
CHICAGO -- The 17th-ranked University of Chicago women's basketball team earned the #21 overall seed in the 2026 NCAA Division III Tournament, and the team will travel to Whitewater, Wisconsin for the first two rounds this weekend.
CHICAGO -- The 17th-ranked University of Chicago women's basketball team earned the #21 overall seed in the 2026 NCAA Division III Tournament, and the team will travel to Whitewater, Wisconsin for the first two rounds this weekend.
The Maroons will travel to the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater for the NCAA Regional round on Friday and Saturday as the field reduces from 64 teams to 16. #17 UChicago will take on (RV) Gustavus Adolphus in the opening game of the day at 4:45 PM CT, and the hosts, #20 UW-Whitewater, will battle Transylvania in the second game on Friday at 7:15 PM CT. The Regional round wraps up on Saturday as the winners of each of the opening rounds games will play with a spot in the NCAA Tournament Sectional round on the line.
The University of Chicago enters the NCAA Tournament with a record of 17-7 in the regular season, and the team finished in third place in the UAA with a record of 9-5 in league play. The Maroons are coming off a loss at #16 WashU in the season finale on Saturday, but they will look to bounce back in their opening round matchup.
This will be the 11th all-time appearance in the NCAA Tournament for the Maroons, but it will be their first since 2023 when the team picked up wins over Northwestern (MN) and Whitman to reach the Sectional Semifinals.
