Men's Track & Field Snaps 109-Year Drought with First Conference Title Since 1917

CLEVELAND -- The University of Chicago men's track and field team brought home its first UAA Championship in outdoor track & field in program history this weekend. The Maroons tallied six UAA titles and 15 total podium finishes in the meet. The six individual UAA titles for UChicago are also the most ever recorded in a single outdoor championship meet.

Simon Dixon put up one of the top performances of the meet as the senior won both the Hammer Throw and Shot Put and finished sixth in the Discus Throw. Dixon was one of two UChicago athletes to win multiple events in the meet, throwing marks of 55.61 meters in the Hammer Throw and 16.69 meters in the Shot Put.

Evan Parker joined Dixon with multiple UAA titles in the meet as the freshman swept the distance events. Parker ran a time of 29:51.12 to win the 10000m Run on Saturday, and he won the 5000m Run on Sunday with a time of 14:28.21.

Aryan Shrivastava recorded a trio of top-four finishes in the meet, including winning the UAA title in the Triple Jump with a mark of 15.23 meters. Shrivastava also finished second in the Long Jump with a mark of 6.93 meters and fourth in the High Jump with a mark of 1.97 meters.

Oluwaseyi Kadiri won the final UAA title of the meet for UChicago as he won the Javelin Throw with a mark of 54.66 meters. In addition to the Javelin Throw, Kadiri also finished second in the Triple Jump and sixth in the Long Jump to lead the Maroons.

Following the Maroons' UAA title sweep, UChicago will return to action on Friday, May 1, as the Maroons head to Bloomington, Indiana for the first last chance meet.
