HANOVER, N.H.—Sam Anderson of Dartmouth baseball and Anna Marie Fagan of Dartmouth softball have been named The Richards Group Athletes of the Week following outstanding weeks on the diamond.

Each week, DartmouthSports.com will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes – one male athlete or team, one female athlete or team– as Athletes of the Week.

Sam Andersen, Fy., Toronto, Ont., Baseball

First-year Sam Andersen dominated at the plate this week, posting a .363 batting average across four games, helping Dartmouth to a 3-1 record on the week. In Dartmouth's midweek win over Merrimack, Andersen scored the game-tying run in the fifth before knocking in the game winning run in the sixth, as the Big Green defeated the Warriors, 4-3.

In the weekend series vs. Manhattan, Andersen posted a .375 average at the plate, raking three triples. In game one, Andersen tripled in the fifth to pull the Big Green within two runs. In game two, Andersen was hit by the pitch with the bases loaded, forcing in the eventual game winning run. He also scored a run in the same inning and hit his second triple of the weekend in the next inning. In the series finale, Andersen recorded his third triple of the weekend and drove in the game winning run in the 1-0 victory. Andersen now ranks second overall on the team with 16 RBI, leading the first-year class.

Anna Marie Fagan, So., Guilford, Conn., Softball

Anna Marie Fagan stepped up for the Big Green, pitching 16 consecutive innings and earning two wins against Princeton, which no other Ivy pitcher has done this year. Against Princeton's top starting lineup, Fagan limited its offense to just three extra base hits in 14 innings of work. Fagan was able to work her way out of innings repeatedly, stranding 21 Princeton runners on base over the weekend and halting offensive momentum to help lead the Big Green to two wins.
