Caldwell and Ding Lead Women's Throwers at Millikin Outdoor Opener

DECATUR, Ill. -- The University of Chicago women's track and field throwers opened their season on Saturday at the Millikin Outdoor Opener.

Brooke Caldwell led the Maroons with the lone top-5 finish in the meet as she finished third in the Hammer Throw with a mark of 44.88 meters. She also placed 13th in the Discus Throw with a mark of 31.54 meters.

Yichen Ding added a sixth-place finish in the Javelin Throw with a mark of 30.61 meters, and she added a 14th-place finish in the Hammer Throw with a mark of 33.49 meters.

Rielley McNeill added a pair of top-15 finishes in the meet as she placed 12th in the Shot Put with a mark of 10.29 meters and 13th in the Discus Throw with a mark of 31.54 meters.

The final thrower of the meet for the Maroons was

Lilian Seaver who finished in 23rd in the Hammer Throw with a mark of 21.51 meters and 25th in the Shot Put with a mark of 8.51 meters.

The team will return to action next week as the Maroons compete in the Wheaton Invitational on Tuesday, March 31. The meet has been moved up two days from Thursday to Tuesday due to incoming weather later in the week.
