PRINCETON, N.J. – In its final races ahead of the Ivy League Championship in two weeks, the 20th-ranked University of Pennsylvania women's rowing team competed against seventh-ranked Princeton and 11th-ranked UCF Saturday morning at the Tigers' home course on Lake Carnegie.

"The team raced exceptionally well today with real guts, determination, and skill. I'm extremely proud of them," said Penn's head coach,

Bill Manning. "We are trending in the right direction and eager to capitalize on our gains. I am excited to see our women prepare for the Ivy League Championship."

Live Results (CrewTimer.com)

Varsity Eights

Princeton 6:45.1

UCF 6:49.1

Penn 7:01.3

MANNING: "Our 1V8 had the biggest challenge of all and they gave it their all. This year we simply do not have the top-end speed to run with Princeton's first boat. However, we saw improvement in this race from last year and that gives us confidence heading into Ivies."

Second Varsity Eights

Princeton 6:53.3

UCF 7:07.6

Penn 7:09.6

MANNING: "The 2V8 raced a brutal battle with UCF for the whole two thousand meters. Both boats threw body blows at the other, and there was always a strong response. Both crews showed tremendous character. At the end UCF got us by half a length, a significantly smaller margin than the Orlando Invitational two weeks ago."

Varsity Fours

UCF 7:57.1

Princeton 8:02.1

Penn 8:02.8

MANNING: "The Fours had an epic race Saturday morning, with all three boats leading at one point. In the end Princeton nipped us by just seven-tenths of a second for second place, with the three boats separated by less than six seconds. Coach

Josie Konopka has this group improving each week."

Third Varsity Eights

Penn 7:23.0

Princeton 7:25.4

MANNING: "The 3V8 came away from Lake Carnegie with a victory. It was a huge win for Coach

Allyson Baker and this young crew, as it's always satisfying to defeat Princeton on its home water."

Second Varsity Fours

Princeton 7:52.7

UCF 7:58.3

Penn 8:30.6
