Cornell Men Set for Ivy League Heptagonal Championships

PRINCETON, N.J. — The Cornell Big Red men's outdoor track and field team heads to Princeton this weekend for the 2026 Ivy League Heptagonal Outdoor Track & Field Championships, set for Saturday and Sunday, May 16-17, at Princeton University.

PRINCETON, N.J. — The Cornell Big Red men's outdoor track and field team heads to Princeton this weekend for the 2026 Ivy League Heptagonal Outdoor Track & Field Championships, set for Saturday and Sunday, May 16-17, at Princeton University.

Competition begins Saturday at 10 a.m. with the league's top programs battling for Ivy League titles across two days of championship action. Live results will be available through Leone Timing, while the full championship schedule can be found on the Ivy League website.

Cornell enters the weekend positioned to contend near the top of the team standings behind one of the conference's deepest and most balanced rosters. The Big Red boasts top-five Ivy League marks in multiple event groups, including distance, hurdles, jumps and throws.

"We have the ability and the tools to perform at a high level," The George Heekin '29 Head Coach of Men's Track and Field Adrian Durant said. "If we do what we do best, we'll get the results we're looking for."

Among Cornell's top contenders is junior distance standout Pierre Attiogbe, who ranks second in the Ivy League in both the 1,500-meter run and 5,000-meter run. Attiogbe also owns the Cornell program record in the 1,500m and enters the championship ranked No. 19 nationally in the event.

Ryder King will lead Cornell's hurdle group after posting the Ivy League's second-fastest time in the 400m hurdles and third-fastest mark in the 110m hurdles this season. King currently ranks inside the top 50 nationally in the 400m hurdles and sits second all-time in program history in the event.

The Big Red also features one of the conference's strongest throws groups, led by Peter Northup and Joe Seib. Northup ranks third in the Ivy League in the hammer throw and fifth in the shot put, while Seib enters the weekend ranked fourth in the conference in the shot put.

Cornell's depth extends throughout the lineup, including Panashe Nhenga in the sprints, Tyler Tisinger in the 800m, Stepan Matura in the long jump, Kameron Coleman and Desmond Whitely in the triple jump, and Kyle Velasco and Gabe Ball in the decathlon.

The Big Red additionally boasts national-level depth in the steeplechase, with Colin Martens, Brandon Get and Andrew Ordway all ranked inside the top 30 nationally in the 3,000m steeplechase entering the weekend.

With favorable weather conditions expected in Princeton, Cornell will look to close out the outdoor regular season with another strong showing on the Ivy League championship stage.
