Women’s Golf Opens NCAA Stanford Regional in 12th Place

The Navy women's golf team opened play in the NCAA Stanford Regional on Monday, finishing the first day in 12th place in Stanford, Calif.

STANFORD, Calif. – The Navy women's golf team opened play in the NCAA Stanford Regional on Monday, finishing the first day in 12th place in Stanford, Calif.

Competing at the par-71, 6,267-yard Stanford Golf Course, the Midshipmen shot a 26-over par 310 in the opening round, sitting nine strokes behind the 10th-place tie of Illinois and South Dakota State.

Navy was led by senior

Sue Lee, who carded a 4-over par 75 to end the first round tied for 44th on the individual leaderboard.

Junior golfer

Emma Tang followed, shooting a 6-over par 77 to sit tied for 52nd, while sophomore

Megan Kirkpatrick added a 7-over par 78, placing her in a tie for 56th.

Vivian Cressman completed the team's first-round lineup, as both players shot rounds of 9-over par 80 to tie for 64th.

Host Stanford leads the team field after firing an opening round of 9-under par 275, followed by Oregon State in second place with a 279. Emma Bunch of New Mexico State, competing as an individual, holds the player lead after shooting a 7-under par 64.

Navy continues regional play on Tuesday, with tee times starting at 11 a.m. ET.
