#12 Women’s Tennis Quartet Garners CSC Academic All-District Praise

Anna Lardner, Charlotte McCann, Elsie Van Wieren and Lulu Wu of the #12 Middlebury women's tennis team have earned College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District accolades.

HONOREE HIGHLIGHTS

  • Lardner

  • Lardner earns the accolade for the first time in her career.

  • The captain is majoring in environmental studies.

  • She tallied a 19-8 mark in doubles action, including a 9-3 mark in the top slot this spring, to garner All-NESCAC First Team Doubles praise.

  • The duo of Lardner and Van Wieren ranks fourth in the Northeast region.

  • The Panther played primarily at #2 singles throughout the spring, amassing a 16-10 record to garner All-NESCAC Second Team laurels.

  • McCann

  • A psychology major, McCann secures her initial academic all-district nod.

  • The senior accumulated 20 individual triumphs this year, including 14 primarily at #5 in dual competition.

  • She posted a team-best nine victories (9-1) during NESCAC action.

  • McCann posted a 7-2 doubles record this year, highlighted by a perfect 4-0 during spring action.

  • Van Wieren

  • Van Wieren tallies her initial district honor from the organization.

  • The molecular biology and biochemistry major earned All-NESCAC First Team Doubles honors alongside Lardner.

  • Van Wieren played in the top spot of the lineup this season and ranks seventh in Division III.

  • She has recorded a team-high 23 wins this year (23-7), including a 16-4 showing this spring to receive All-NESCAC First Team praise.

  • The sophomore will compete in the NCAA Individual Tournament later this month in Tennessee.

  • She owns a 46-13 career mark in singles play, including two seasons with 20 or more triumphs.

  • Wu

  • A studio art major, Wu garners her first academic all-district honor.

  • The senior was half of a doubles team that went 11-2 in the second slot during the spring campaign.

  • She concluded the season as one of seven Middlebury players with a double-digit win total in singles, going 13-9 overall with five triumphs at #3.

  • As an individual, Wu tallied a 68-28 record for her career.

The CSC Academic All-America women's teams will be announced on Tuesday, June 2.
