Wells, LaBarge Compete at Augustana Meet in Illinois on Wednesday

Jackie Wells of the Tufts University women's outdoor track & field team improved her season-best mark in the javelin throw at the Augustana Midwest Twilight Qualifier on Wednesday.

Ceci LaBarge joined Wells on the trip to Illinois, and narrowly missed hitting her season-best in the hammer throw.
Competing in the Javelin Throw Invite event, Wells sent her fifth attempt 41.53m (136'3") for second place at the meet. The mark improved upon her previous season-best of 41.40m (135'10") and moved her national ranking up one position from #24 to #23.
LaBarge made the finals in the hammer throw with a 52.08m (170'10") best mark. That stood as her best distance, and fell just short of her 52.39m (171'10") season-best which ranks 23rd nationally.
A total of 22 berths will be awarded in individual events for the 2026 NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships coming up May 21-23 in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. Depending on declarations in their events, Wells and LaBarge are on the bubble for qualifying.
Selections for the national championship meet will be announced on Friday (May 15).
