Men’s Lacrosse Overcomes Fourth Quarter Deficit, Falls to Penn in Double Overtime
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Trailing 11-7 with 6:50 remaining in the fourth quarter, the Brown men's lacrosse team (6-6, 1-4 Ivy) forced overtime but ultimately fell to Penn (7-6, 3-3 Ivy), 12-11, in double overtime on Saturday at Stevenson-Pincince Field.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Trailing 11-7 with 6:50 remaining in the fourth quarter, the Brown men's lacrosse team (6-6, 1-4 Ivy) forced overtime but ultimately fell to Penn (7-6, 3-3 Ivy), 12-11, in double overtime on Saturday at Stevenson-Pincince Field.
"Proud of our effort to come back versus a very talented and well-coached Penn team down 11-7 with 6:50 to play and send the game to double overtime," Rothman Head Coaching Chair for Men's Lacrosse Jon Torpey said. "This speaks volumes of the love and fight our underclassmen have for our seniors. We will improve on our deficiencies and continue to grow. I love coaching these young men, they give us their hearts and souls each day."
Ben Scandone led the way offensively for Brown with three goals and one assist, Brady O'Kane added two goals and one assist. Connor Foley made 16 saves for the Bears, including three in the fourth quarter.
Brown outscored Penn 4-2 in the first quarter behind two goals from O'Kane, and one each from Scandone and Preston Evans. Overall, the Bears outscored the Quakers 15-9 in the opening 15 minutes while Henry Brayer won six out of seven face-offs.
After Jameson Steele opened the second quarter with a goal, the Quakers responded with a 3-0 run to tie the game at five. Felix Rockefeller found the back of the net to give Brown the lead before Penn tied the game at six heading into halftime.
The Quakers outscored the Bears 2-1 in the third quarter, taking an 8-7 advantage into the fourth quarter. Penn continued its run to open the fourth, extending its lead to 11-7 before Brown mounted its comeback.
Hopsicker opened the run with two goals before Scandone's third goal of the game cut the deficit to one. Marcus Wertheim tied the game at 11 with 20 seconds remaining, forcing overtime.
Neither side could find the back of the net before Penn earned the victory in double overtime.
Brown will close the 2026 regular season against Yale on Saturday, Apr. 25, the opening face-off is scheduled for 12 p.m. at Stevenson-Pincince Field. Fans can purchase tickets here.
