Sliwkowski’s Overtime Winner Clinches Ivy League Tournament Berth in 14-13 Win Over No. 25 Penn

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Ruby Sliwkowski's game-winning overtime goal clinched an Ivy League Tournament berth for the Brown women's lacrosse team (8-6, 4-3 Ivy) as it took down No. 25 Penn (8-7, 5-2 Ivy), 14-13, on Sunday afternoon at Franklin Field.

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Ruby Sliwkowski's game-winning overtime goal clinched an Ivy League Tournament berth for the Brown women's lacrosse team (8-6, 4-3 Ivy) as it took down No. 25 Penn (8-7, 5-2 Ivy), 14-13, on Sunday afternoon at Franklin Field.

The win puts the Bears in the Ivy League Tournament for the second consecutive season and they will be the No. 4 seed. Brown will take on top-seeded Yale on Friday, May 1, at Reese Stadium on the Yale campus at 4 p.m.

Additionally, this is Brown's first over Penn since the 2003 season.

Sliwkowski scored five goals to go along with three assists, eight points is a career-high for the Kennebunkport, Maine native. Tessie Batchelder added five goals and one assist while Caroline Nozzolillo scored one goal to go along with three assists.

Riley Peterson opened the scoring 3:49 into the contest before Penn scored four-straight goals. Caroline Nozzolillo ended the Quakers' run with a goal before Penn added one more. Mackenzie Farley rounded out the goal scoring in the first quarter as Penn took a 5-3 lead into the second quarter.

After the Quakers opened the second quarter scoring to take a 6-3 lead, the Bears mounted a 6-0 run to close the half behind four goals from Batchelder, one from Sliwkowski, and one from Kayla Davi. The Bears outshot the Quakers 12-4 in the second half as they took a 9-6 advantage into the second half.

Penn opened the scoring in the second half with four-straight goals to take a 10-9 advantage before Sliwkowski tied the game at 10 with 1:08 remaining in the frame, sending the game to the fourth quarter tied at 10.

Sliwkowski opened the scoring in the fourth quarter with her third goal before Penn launched a 2-0 run to take a 12-11 advantage. Sliwkowski's fourth goal of the game with 4:11 remaining tied the game, Batchelder's fifth goal of the game gave the Bears a 13-12 lead with 1:06 remaining.

The Quakers tied the game with seven seconds remaining, sending the game to overtime.

Sliwkowski's game winning goal came with 1:59 remaining in overtime.
