Five Bantams Earn All-NEWA Honors, 14 Named to NEWA All-Academic Team

HARTFORD, Conn. - The Trinity College Men's Wrestling team posted five honorees on the All-NEWA (New England Wrestling Association) teams released in late April. Along with the athletic success the Bantams pinned 14 on the NEWA All-Academic team.

HARTFORD, Conn. - The Trinity College Men's Wrestling team posted five honorees on the All-NEWA (New England Wrestling Association) teams released in late April. Along with the athletic success the Bantams pinned 14 on the NEWA All-Academic team.

Sophomore Ty Trickle earned 2nd Team All-NEWA honors, while first-year wrestler Nick Ebrahimi was named to the All-NEWA Rookie Team. Senior Matthew Carrozza, along with juniors Emre Sensoy and Alex Schaeublin, each received All-NEWA Honorable Mention recognition.

Ty Trickle earned 2nd Team All-NEWA honors after previously being named All-NEWA Honorable Mention in 2024-25. Ty finished the season with a 23-10 record, including 3 pins, 8 technical falls, and 6 major decisions. He placed 3rd at the Region 1 Championships to qualify for nationals and was also recognized as an NWCA Scholar All-American for the second time in his career.

Nick Ebrahimi was named to the All-NEWA Rookie Team following a strong freshman campaign. Nick posted a 20-10 record on the season with 7 pins and 2 major decisions. In addition to his success on the mat, he was also named an NWCA Scholar All-American.

Matthew Carrozza earned All-NEWA Honorable Mention honors after also receiving the recognition in 2023-24. Matty compiled a 25-13 record this season with 5 pins, 2 technical falls, and 7 major decisions. He finished 4th at the Region 1 Championships and was named an NWCA Scholar All-American for the third time in his career.

Emre Sensoy received All-NEWA Honorable Mention recognition for the second consecutive season after also earning the honor in 2024-25. Emre finished the year with a 20-8 record, recording 5 pins, 1 technical fall, and 2 major decisions. He also placed 5th at the Region 1 Championships.

Alex Schaeublin earned All-NEWA Honorable Mention honors after previously receiving the distinction in 2024-25. Alex posted a 25-13 record this season with 9 pins, 7 technical falls, and 1 major decision. He concluded his postseason with a 7th-place finish at the Region 1 Championships.

The program also had 14 wrestlers named to the NEWA All-Academic Team: seniors Matthew Carrozza and Chase Ledbury; juniors Lukas Cylwik, Pat McCarron, and Drew Pratt; sophomores John Lagana, Ty Trickle, and Lucas Weinstein; and first-years Nick Ebrahimi, Sebastian Hiller, Liam Holden, Luke Hutton, Jacob Kennedy, and Durkin Stankevich.
