PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown football head coach James Perry '00 has announced the hiring of Andrew DiRienzo as the program's new Assistant Coach, Wide Receivers. DiRienzo comes to Brown after spending the last three seasons as an Assistant Coach – Tight Ends/Special Teams Coordinator at Fordham and has prior stops at Rutgers and Pace.

In 2024, DiRienzo coached Fordham's special teams unit that led the Patriot League and ranked 43rd in the NCAA in net punting (37.84) and ranked second in the Patriot League in punt return defense (5.43). He coached tight end Matt Buron to Phil Steele Second Team All-Patriot League honors and First Team All-Patriot League punter Will Haslett.

In his first season with Fordham, his tight ends group helped the Rams' offense rank 12th in the FCS in passing offense (275.6 yards/game) and rank 13th nationally with 428.0 yards of total offense per game.

DiRienzo spent five seasons at Rutgers from 2018-2022. He started off in player development during the 2018 season, before shifting to a graduate assistant from 2019-2021 where he worked directly with the team's receivers.

For the 2022 season, he served as an offensive quality control assistant where he worked directly with the receivers and developed weekly scouting reports on opponent's tendencies, oversaw the creation and management of the playbook, and assisted the receiver's coach with specific drills and implementing wide receiver installations.

Prior to joining Rutgers, DiRienzo was a defensive backs coach at Division II Pace University for the 2017 season. He helped install the defensive game plan, managed all aspects of the team's punt return unit, and served as the program's social media coordinator.

DiRienzo graduated from Springfield College with a bachelor's degree in movement of sports studies. He served as a student assistant from 2015-2016, working with the team's receivers as a junior and the quarterbacks as a senior.

DiRienzo and the Bears will take the field for the first time in 2026 on Saturday, September 19 at New Haven.
