The Bears can clinch the Ivy League title outright and the No. 1 seed in upcoming Ivy League Tournament if they are able to sweep a doubleheader from the Quakers on Saturday.
The two teams combined for 26 hits on Friday, and 16 runs across the seventh and eighth innings. All nine players in the Bears' lineup reached base in the game, with senior Mark Henshon delivering two hits and five RBIs in the win. Sophomore Alex Benevento had three hits, three runs and two RBIs, senior DJ Dillehay had three hits, three RBIs and scored twice, and senior Logan Meusy had two hits, two runs scored and one RBI.
Freshman Camren Piwnicki moves to 4-1 with the win on the mound. Senior Christian Keel got the final six outs while allowing two hits and striking out one. Senior Peter Dubie pitched into the seventh inning, allowing five earned runs and two walks while striking out five.
The Bears batted around in the first inning to take a 3-0 lead on just one hit, taking advantage of four walks and a hit batter. After three consecutive walks to start the game, Dillehay stepped in and singled up the middle to score a pair, which chased the Penn starter from the game. Christian Butera later picked up and RBI with a bases loaded hit by pitch to spot Brown the 3-0 lead.

The Quakers took advantage of two Brown errors to score an unearned run in the second on a sac fly. Penn then put the leadoff man on for the first time in the bottom of the sixth and followed that with a two-run homer to left field that knotted the game 3-3. Brown escaped the inning by eliminating a runner between third and home, and a huge strikeout with the go-ahead run on third for Dubie ended the threat of further damage.
Brown quickly answered in a big way in the top of the seventh, putting the first five men on base to start the inning and chase Marty Coyne from the game. Benevento delivered the go-ahead knock with an RBI single to left field, and Meusy later knocked in a run with a bases loaded hit-by-pitch to make it a 5-3 game.

Undeterred, Brown rallied with five more in the top of the eighth to go up 13-9. Petersen doubled, then scored on a double by Benevento to tie it. Benevento then stole second and third, and crossed the plate on an error for the 10-9 lead. Henshon followed with another huge hit, a double into the right field corner to plate two more runs. Butera later added an RBI double off the wall in left.
