Baseball to Host Senior Day on Saturday as Cornell Comes to Town

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown baseball team will welcome Cornell to Providence this weekend for a three-game Ivy League series. Between games of Saturday's doubleheader, Brown will honor its 11-member senior class of 2026 as part of its annual senior day festivities.

CAREER MILESTONES

  • Senior Mika Petersen is one hit shy of tying Jeff Lawler '00 (188 hits) for 10th on the program's all-time career hits list.

  • Petersen is nine official at bats shy of tying Rob Henry '17 for the 10th-most at bats in program history (590).

  • Petersen (35) is seven steals shy of climbing into the top 10 in program history for career stolen bases (42).

  • Senior DJ Dillehay is two RBIs shy of tying Danny Hughes '06, Dan Kantrovitz '01, and John King '79 on the program's career RBIs list. All three alums are tied for 10th with 111.

  • Senior Christian Keel has seven career saves, four shy of the program record of 11, held by Matt Kimball '11. Six of those saves have come this season. Kimball also holds the single season saves record with 10 in 2009.

SCOUTING BROWN (18-14, 10-4 Ivy)

  • The Bears finished off the season series win over Harvard on Tuesday, winning the rescheduled finale by a score of 6-3.

  • Brown's team ERA in Ivy League play is 2.99, good for the best mark in the league.

  • Senior pitcher Dylan Reid ranks fourth overall in the Ivy League with a 3.18 ERA. In Ivy League games, his 1.67 ERA is ranked second in the league.

  • Senior Mika Petersen has been a force in Ivy League games, leading the league in average (.453). He has reached base in 24 of the last 25 games and has a 13-game hitting streak.

  • Sophomore outfielder Alex Benevento has the second-most RBIs on the team with 25. He is hitting .305 on the season and is second on the team with 14 steals. He also leads the team with five home runs.

  • Senior DJ Dillehay leads the team with 30 RBIs and is second on the team with eight doubles.

  • Freshman shortstop Matt Luigs is hitting .290 and leads the team with 20 walks and is fifth in the league with 17 steals. He also had a six-game hitting streak.

  • Senior Mark Henshon has reached base in 23 of his last 27 games. He's drawn 16 walks and is riding a three-game hitting streak.

SCOUTING CORNELL (8-23, 5-10)

  • Cornell is coming off a 10-6 win at Binghamton on Tuesday night, which snapped the Bearcats' 11-game winning streak, which was the longest in Division I at the time.

  • Cornell hit four homers in Tuesday's win.

  • In Ivy League games, the Big Red rank sixth with a .237 batting average and is seventh with a 7.16 team ERA.

  • Kevin Hager leads the team with a .330 batting average and 11 walks.

  • Owen Carlson is hitting .326 with a team-high .427 on-base pct. and 16 walks.

  • Five different players have at least three home runs, with TJ Swidorski leading the squad with four.
