Men's Hockey Falls to RPI 3-1

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown men's ice hockey (5-22-2, 4-15-2 ECAC) took an early lead, but RPI (10-22-1, 7-13-1 ECAC) rallied to defeat the Bears, 3-1, on Friday evening in Meehan Auditorium.

The Bears jumped out to an early lead on freshman Matthew Cataldo's goal at the 7:07 mark to make it 1-0, Bruno. The Engineers scored two unanswered goals to end the first period with a 2-1 lead. That was the score until a late empty-netter sealed the win for the visitors, 3-1.

Nate Krawchuk earned the win in goal for RPI, making 24 saves, and improving to 8-14. Tyler Shea stopped 30 of the 32 shots he faced. Shea fell to 3-19-2 in 2025-26.

GAME NOTES

• Tonight was Cataldo's fourth goal of the season, and the eighth assist for both Matthew Desiderio and

Brian Nicholas. - Brown was 0-for-1 on the power play and RPI went 0-2.

Brown will host Union tomorrow at 7 p.m. The Bears will honor the seven-member 2026 senior class before a ceremonial puck drop. In addition, Brown will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the 1976 Ivy League Champion men's ice hockey team, which reached the NCAA Frozen Four.
