PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Following her strong start to the outdoor track and field season over the weekend, Brown junior Elle Riley has been named the Ivy League Women's Track and Field Athlete of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday.

Riley and the Bears opened up the outdoor season this past weekend at the Raleigh Relays, where she posted the No. 2 time in school history in the 400 meter hurdles of 58.61 seconds. The mark is a new personal best and sits 0.30 second shy of Susan Smith's school record from 1993. The time placed Riley eighth overall in the race out of 62 competitors.

Riley also competed in the 100 meter hurdles, where she finished sixth overall out of 87 hurdlers in 13.83. The time sits just 0.09 seconds shy of her own school record in the event, which she set last season.

Brown will return to action this weekend with the Ocean State Cup at Bryant on Saturday, April 4.
