CHICAGO -- The 21st-ranked University of Chicago women's lacrosse team rolled its way to the third round of the 2026 NCAA DIII Women's Lacrosse Tournament after defeating Hope College 23-7 on Saturday afternoon. The Maroons earned back-to-back wins over the Flying Dutch after facing them in the final regular-season game of the year. The win is also UChicago's second consecutive regional final win after defeating Wooster to advance to the third round last season.

The Maroons got off to a hot start after netting a goal only about a minute into the game as

Kaylin Oey capitalized on a free-position shot. Just three minutes later,

Peyton McGuire advanced the lead to two, but Hope responded quickly to cut the lead to one. Just as the Flying Dutch's momentum was building, the Maroons began to build a lead. Less than a minute after Hope's goal, McGuire and

Kailee See rotated, scoring four goals in minutes to extend their lead to five. Before time in the first quarter ran out, both the Flying Dutch and the Maroons added another goal as Oey converted on another free position attempt.

Hope opened the scoring in the second quarter, making it a 7-3 ballgame just two minutes in. After a bit of back-and-forth play in the midfield, the Maroons found themselves on another heated scoring run. With 10:58 left in the second, McGuire scored back-to-back goals off assists from

Wynne Boggan and

Kelly Callaghan. In just a few seconds after

Coco Rigoli won the next draw control, Oey finished off a fantastic pass from

Grace Hopkins to complete her hat trick in just the first half and put the Maroons up by seven.

The momentum never slowed as UChicago scored three more goals from

Avery Song,

Charlotte Semlies, and Boggan in the final six minutes of the game. After the first half, UChicago led 14-3 with six different goal scorers. Just three of the 14 were not scored by Oey, McGuire, and See.

UChicago added onto its lead early in the second half as Oey and

Kelly Callaghan netted two to make it 16-3. Hope's Brown and Bottum scored to put two more goals on the scoreboard, but the Maroons found the back of the net soon after as Boggan completed her hat trick with two goals to close the third quarter.

Boggan wasn't done just yet as she scored her fourth goal, UChicago's third consecutive, of the game to open the final quarter. Holding a 19-5 lead in favor of UChicago, the Flying Dutch fought back, netting two back-to-back goals to make it 19-7. With a bit of energy from the Hope side, the Maroons found a way to take the momentum back and diminish any hope for the Flying Dutch.

Another draw control by Rigoli set UChicago up for another successful possession.

Nicoletta Tsiamis converted on a man-up goal off an assist from Boggan and within a few minutes, Rigoli added to her statsheet with another goal for the Maroons to make it 21-7. As the final minute came,

Ella Kodl and Oey scored two more for the Maroons, asserting the team's offensive dominance.

Oey led the offense for UChicago, going a perfect 6-for-6 on goals and adding 2 assists for 8 points. McGuire followed with five goals and six points, as Boggan led the team with four assists and added four goals. In total, the Maroons had 10 different players net a goal.

In goal,

Kate Kim,

Lily Brill, and

Gabrielle Kiewe held strong for UChicago, recording four saves on seven attempts.

The Maroons will await the winner of #2 Wesleyan and SUNY-Cortland to see where they'll head for the third round of the 2026 NCAA DIII Women's Lacrosse Tournament.
