HANOVER, N.H. – The Dartmouth softball team claimed a thrilling victory over Yale on Sunday, securing an 11-3 run-rule win on senior day at Dartmouth Softball Park.
Marilyn Beauvais plated the Big Green's first two runs of the game in the bottom of the first, hitting her second career triple to center field to score Faby Serna and Lauren Ben-Ezra.
The Bulldogs put themselves on the board in the third inning, getting things going with an RBI single by Grace Westmo, who advanced to second on the throw. Ava Kang gave Yale the lead in a similar way, hitting a two-RBI single and advancing to second on the throw.
In the bottom of the third with the bases loaded, Justice Malone tied the game with a sacrifice fly to right field, scoring Ben-Ezra. Sydney Herrmann placed a single down the left field line, scoring Serna to take a 4-3 lead.
The Big Green added some insurance in the bottom of the fourth, with Olivia Schramm hitting an RBI single and advancing to second on the throw, scoring Ashley Frantz. Beauvais broke it open for the Big Green, launching a three-run homer over the centerfield wall to make it an 8-3 game.
Dartmouth sealed the victory when Serna hit an RBI double, followed by a walk-off two RBI triple by Schramm.
The Big Green will wrap up their home schedule this Tuesday when hosting Brown for a scheduled 4 p.m. game.
