NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Dartmouth women's sailing team opened its national championship season, Sunday, competing in the first day of the Intercollegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) Women's Team Race National Championship.
Through nine races, the Big Green sit in seventh overall with a 5-4 record.
Dartmouth sat in first place at one point on day one of racing, having posted a perfect 4-0 record through its first races.
In Round 1, the Big Green earned wins over host Tulane, Cornell, Bowdoin, St. Mary's, and Michigan. Their losses came to the reigning national champions Stanford, as well as Brown, Roger Williams, and Georgetown.
Round 1 will conclude on Monday, as the top 6 teams will move on to the next round. The Big Green have five races to go and will sail against Yale, Harvard, Tufts, Charleston, and MIT.
The Big Green, currently in seventh, sit only one race outside the top six. Their 5-4 record is identical to that of sixth place Roger Williams, but the Hawks own the tiebreaker.
Stanford and Yale lead the way with a perfect 8-0 record followed by Brown, Charleston and Harvard.
