BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Army West Point Baseball's Josiah Overbeek has been named Patriot League Player and Rookie of the Week.
Army went 2-1 during the award window, including a doubleheader sweep over conference foe Lafayette on April 26.
Overbeek batted .500 for Army across the three games from April 21-26, with a three-run home run and four RBIs. Overbeek pitched in both games vs. Lafayette, recording a one-out save in the first game and collecting a two-out win in the nightcap.
Monday represents the second time Overbeek has won both the player and rookie nod from the conference, previously taking both accolades on March 2.
The plebe has set the program freshman records in both home runs and walks, with his 50 walks drawn leading the country. He is also a semifinalist for the John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Award.
