WORCESTER, Mass. - No. 9 Brown Women's Crew won its 15th Women's Sprints Championship at the 51st annual Eastern Sprints on Sunday at Lake Quinsigamond.

WORCESTER, Mass. - No. 9 Brown Women's Crew won the Willing Trophy, awarded to the team with the most points, at the 51st Women's Sprints on Sunday at Lake Quinsigamond. This marks the 15th time since 1990 that the Bears have won the Willing Trophy and their fifth consecutive team championship at the annual regatta.
The Varsity Eight, coxed by Summer Balla-Kellett and stroked by Sydney Chait-Walter, won their heat with a time of 6:14.000. In the Grand Final, Bruno's top boat crossed the finish line in 6:12.109, more than three seconds faster than the next closer crew. This is the 12th time since 1988 that Brown has claimed a V8 championship at the Sprints and represents their fourth title in the last five seasons.
The Second Varsity had an identical day to the V8, winning both races that they competed in. Coxed by Caitlyn Roddy and stroked by Isla Wilding, the 2V8 won their heat with a final time of 6:21.684 and took home a Grand Final victory after crossing the finish line in 6:18.088. The championship race was tightly contested, with the Rutgers Scarlet Knights placing as a close runner-up with a time of 6:19.210.
The Third Varsity, coxed by Fiona Daly and stroked by Valerie Xu, finished their heat in fifth place with a time of 6:59.556. In the Petite Final, the 3V8 crossed the finish line in 7:02.219, good enough for a second place finish.
The A4, coxed by Katherine Mitchell and stroked by Sophie Perkel, finished their heat in second place with a time of 7:16.286, slightly behind first place Boston University at 7:15.150. In the Grand Final, the Bears crossed the finish line in 7:18.179, good enough a third place finish.
The B4, coxed by Brooke Halvorsen and stroked by Nina Rastin, won their heat after posting a time of 7:27.221. In the Grand Final, the B4 crossed the finish line in 7:25.252 and locked in a fourth place finish.
