GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Army West Point track and field program has wrapped up its stay in the Sunshine State after a successful two days at the Florida Relays at Percy Beard Track on Friday and Saturday.
Army has gotten off to an incredibly strong start to open the 2026 outdoor campaign and that carried over into this weekend, as a pair of school records were set and a number of other top 10 results were put together. Entering the Florida Relays, Army had 16 of its event groups ranked inside the USTFCCCA Top 25.
Mikayla Cheney and the women's 4x400m relay team stole the show on Friday, as each set program records. Cheney, who put together Army's best time ever in the 1,500m last weekend, topped it with a mark of 4:13.81 to finish sixth.
The qaurtet of Faith Kibbe, Simone Tillman, Sabrina Sardar and Skye Chambers set a new program record in the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:40.42.
Women's Recap
In addition to Cheney and the relay's impressive showings, a number of other athletes performed well for the Black Knights. Chambers, who was part of the relay team, also set the second-fastest time in program history in the 800m at 2:05.45 to finish 18th. Cheney clocked in just behind Chambers at 2:06.63 to record the third-fastest time, and Alma Lazo Cazares set the fourth-fastest time at 2:07.06.
While Cheney was the star of the 1,500m, Mia Royall also impressed with a time of 4:21.71 to record the third-fastest time in program history.
Tillman recorded the fourth-best time in program history in the 400m running a 54.75 to place 34th in a field of 46.
It wasn't just the 4x400m team who had a strong relay performance, as the quartet of Saige Acosta, Chadon Foreman, Kibbe and Tillman posted a time of 46.37 in the 4x100m relay. The time marks fifth in program history.
In the 3,000m, Army swept the top three spots thanks to good runs by Claire Lewis (9:42.37), Abigail Ringwood (10:14.31) and Chloe Esponda (10:42.93). Leah Richardson finished fourth in the 5,000m at 17:12.18, while Abigail Garner finished in 17:20.26 for seventh.
Men's Recap
Matthew Palchak had an impressive showing in the men's shot put, posting a mark of 17.91m to finish third. The mark ranks fifth all-time in program history.
Freshman Todd Worth impressed in the 800m, posting the ninth-fastest time in program history with a time of 1:49.07 to finish 26th. The men's 4x400m relay team posted the 10th-best time in Army history, running a 3:10.67.
Nathan Davis took home first place in the 1,500m run with a time of 3:51.31. It was arguably his best performance this outdoor season so far. In the 3,000m, Andrew Lee finished in first with a time of 8:38.03, while Christian Bachmann was second with a time of 9:00.02.
In a loaded discus field, Jacob Bowersock finished seventh with a mark of 51.48m. The men's hammer was also a strong event for the Black Knights, as Robby Manse was sixth with a distance of 62.32m.
Up Next
Army is set to host Navy next Saturday at Shea Stadium for the annual outdoor Star Meet, which is part of the Army-Navy Star Series presented by USAA. Events will get underway at 12 p.m., with the meet also being streamed on ESPN+.
