WALTHAM, Mass. -- The University of Chicago softball team ended its 2026 season on Saturday afternoon with a 1-0 win over Brandeis.

Brandeis had a great opportunity to strike first in the opening inning with a one-out triple, but

Marisa Lloveras was able to slam the door with a strikeout and a fly out to end the threat.

In the top of the second, UChicago took advantage of the momentum and brought home the first run of the game. Following a leadoff single for

Olivia Cataldo and a walk by

Matilda Nelson, UChicago took a 1-0 lead with an RBI single by

Anna Jensen.

Following the RBI single by Jensen, it became the

Marisa Lloveras show. Lloveras did not allow a runner to reach scoring position over the next four innings to keep the Maroons on top 1-0 through five innings. The Maroons then turned the ball over to

Eleanor Johnson in the sixth inning, and she proceeded to retire six of the seven batters that she faced to lock up the 1-0 victory with her fourth save of the season.

The freshman duo of Lloveras and Johnson combined to throw 7.0 shutout innings with 2 strikeouts and only 5 hits allowed in the win.

With the win, the Maroons finish the year with a 19-20 record on the season and a 7-11 record in UAA play.
