Floyd Breaks Pole Vault Record; Men's Track & Field Earn Eight Podium Finishes

JOLIET, Ill. -- The University of Chicago men's track and field team wrapped up its penultimate last chance meet on Friday night at the St. Francis Fighting Chance Invite with 11 top-4 finishes in the meet.

William Floyd put up the performance of the meet for the Maroons as he broke the school record by 0.01 meters with a mark of 5.11 meters on Saturday afternoon.

Evan Parker earned the lone event win of the opening day for the Maroons as he took home the title in the 5000m Run with a time of 14:34.74.

Simon Dixon added the final first-place finish int he meet as he won the Shot Put with a mark of 16.41 meters.

Aryan Shrivastava put up one of the top High Jump marks in the country on Friday night as the senior cleared 2.06 meters, ranking #13 overall in NCAA Division III this season. Shrivastava's mark ranks as the second-best High Jump mark in UChicago history.

Michael Nelson also recorded one of the top marks in UChicago history in a field event after Nelson took the #2 spot on the all-time leaderboard. He threw a mark of 56.79 meters in the Javelin Throw which ranks top-50 overall in NCAA Division III this season.

The Maroons return to action on Saturday as the Maroons cap off the St. Francis Fighting Chance Invite with the final day of competition.
