No. 9 Men’s Lacrosse Ready to Face No. 2 Princeton in Ivy League Tournament Semifinals

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Coming off its sixth straight victory, a thrilling comeback win over Brown to close the regular season, the No. 9 Yale men's lacrosse team (No. 3 seed) looks to continue its momentum into the postseason, facing No. 2 Princeton (No. 2 seed) in an ESPNU-televised clash in the Ivy League Tournament semifinals on Friday, May 1.

Last Time Out

• Peter Moynihan tallied the go-ahead goal with 1:34 remaining as the No. 9 Bulldogs took down Brown, 14-13, on Saturday afternoon at Stevenson-Pincince Field.

Scouting Princeton

• The Tigers enter the matchup with an 11-2 overall record (5-1 Ivy).

• Princeton is currently ranked No. 2 in the latest Inside Lacrosse Media Poll.

• The Tigers have won six straight, and their only losses this season have been against Cornell and Penn State.

• Princeton is coming off a 17-9 victory over Dartmouth on Saturday. With the win, the Tigers clinched a share of the Ivy League regular season title with Cornell.

• The Tigers are led by Nate Kabiri (30-28-58), and Chad Palumbo (30-20-50) on offense. Palumbo was chosen by the Carolina Chaos with the seventh pick of the first round of the Premier Lacrosse League draft. He was the first Ivy League player selected.

• On the defensive side, Andrew McMeekin is seventh in the nation in ground balls per game (7.69), which leads the Ivy League. He's also second in the league in face-off winning percentage (.575). The senior leads the Tigers with 100 ground balls.

• Goalie Ryan Croddick is first in the league in save percentage (.566).

Princeton Rewind

• The Bulldogs and Tigers last met on Mar. 14 in New Haven, with Princeton winning 11-10.

• Yale battled with a big fourth-quarter comeback, scoring four goals in the final frame, but the Bulldogs came up short.

• Eight different Bulldogs found the back of the net, led by Moynihan's four point afternoon (1G, 3A), and Gately's three-point effort (2G, 1A).

• After the Tigers took a 9-6 advantage into the fourth, Yale came out firing. Grogan converted on a man-up opportunity just 25 seconds into the quarter. Jackson then scored at the 11:17 mark to pull the Bulldogs within one (9-8).

• Princeton responded to restore a two-goal lead, but Gately answered to make it a one-goal game again (10-9).

• The Tigers then scored with 48 seconds remaining to push the advantage to 11-9. Blekicki added a goal with 14 seconds left (11-10), but Princeton held on for the win.
