Women's Track & Field Tallies Five Podium Finishes at St. Francis

JOLIET, Ill. -- The University of Chicago women's track and field team wrapped up its penultimate last chance meet of the season with five podium finishes at the St. Francis Fighting Chance Invite.

Maddie Lyons had the top sprint performance of the weekend for UChicago, and she ran two career-best times in the process. Her preliminary time of 12.12 ranked #4 in UChicago history, and she bested herself in the finals with a time of 12.09 seconds, ranking #3 in UChicago history, en route to a second-place finish.

Emma Kelly recorded one of the top performances of the meet on Friday as the senior ran the #4 time in school history in the 1500m Run with a time of 4:26.05. Her time was good for a second-place finish and the #7 time in NCAA Division III this season.

Katja Dunayevich also earned a top-2 finish in the meet as the freshman ran a time of 17:02.21 in the 5000m Run, and

Rachel Singer ran the #10 time in UChicago history with a time of 2:14.91 in a second-place finish in the 800m Dash.

Yichen Ding tallied the final top-3 finish for the Maroons and the best field-event performance of the day as she finsihed third in the Javelin Throw with a mark of 35.39 meters.

The Maroons return to action next week when they travel to Augustana (IL) for their final last chance meet of the season.
