ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Navy lacrosse standouts
Mac Haley (Sr / A / Shady Side, Md.) and
Zach Hayashi (Jr / FO / North Potomac, Md.) were among this week's Patriot League players of the week the conference office has announced. Haley was named the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week, while Hayashi picked up Patriot League Faceoff Specialist of the Week honors following their performances in Navy's 20-13 victory over Holy Cross last Saturday.
A two-time winner of the weekly award this season, Haley turned in a career-high eight points on three goals and a career-high tying five assists against the Crusaders. He was one of 10 different players to score the Mids' first 10 goals en route to Navy scoring its most goals in a Patriot League game since defeating Holy Cross 21-12 in 2014. The eight points helped catapult Haley past the 40-point milestone for the second-consecutive year (43 in 2025 / 46 in 2026) and he joins Ian Dingman (40 in 2003, 62 in 2004, 44 in 2006, 42 in 2007) and Jon Birsner (40 in 2004, 42 in 2005, 54 in 2006) as the only three players since 2000 to score 40 or more points multiple times in their careers. Additionally, he and teammate
Alec Gregorek (41) have combined to become Navy's first 40-point tandem since Ryan Wade (20-28=48) and Christian Daniel (31-12=43) did it in 2019.
The four-year starter is Navy's leading scorer this spring with 46 points, scoring 26 goals and dealing out a team-high 20 assists. He has scored two or more goals in nine of the 11 contests.
Hayashi picked up his fifth-career conference citation and first of the 2026 campaign after putting together an 11-for-18 (61.1) effort against the league's top-ranked faceoff unit. The Crusaders entered the game ranked 12th nationally and first in the Patriot League, winning 57.1 percent of their draws. Hayashi and
Colin Shadowens (Sr / Severna Park, N.Y. / 9-18, 50.0) combined to hold Holy Cross in check, as Navy won the faceoff battle 55.6 (20-36) to 44.4 (16-36).
Behind the 11-win afternoon, Hayashi pulled alongside Chris Pieczonka (2002-05) for second on Navy's all-time faceoff wins leader board with 363 wins.
Additionally, Hayashi scored his second goal this season and the fourth of his career, while also picking up a team-high tying five ground balls to move into a tie for seventh on Navy's all-time career ground balls list alongside two-time (1999, 2000) Kelly Award winner Mickey Jarboe.
Navy will play its first of two-consecutive road games this Saturday when it travels to West Point for the annual Star Game against archrival Army (8-3, 3-2 Patriot League). CBS Sports Network will televise the contest live from Michie Stadium beginning at 2:30 pm with Dave Ryan and Ryan Powell calling the action. Additionally, 1430 WNAV will carry the game live with Joe Miller on the call.
