Chung Named a Finalist for the Tewaaraton Award
The Tewaaraton Foundation announced the finalists for the 2026 Tewaaraton Award and attacker Alyssa Chung was among the five named to the list, becoming the first Navy women's lacrosse player in program history to be named a finalist for the Tewaaraton.

Alyssa Chung was among the five named to the list, becoming the first Navy women's lacrosse player in program history to be named a finalist for the Tewaaraton.

The Tewaaraton Award is recognized as the preeminent lacrosse award, annually honoring the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States. The selection committees are composed of premier college coaches and are appointed annually by the Tewaaraton Foundation.
The 2026 Tewaaraton Watch List was announced Feb. 10, with the first round of additions being announced March 5 and a second round of additions March 26. The watch list was narrowed down to the top 25 nominees on April 16 with the five women's finalists were selected from this group and announced Tuesday, May 5.
They will be honored May 28 at the 2026 Tewaaraton Award Ceremony at the Andrew W Mellon Auditorium, in Washington D.C.
Chung is one of 10 Midshipmen to be named to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List, joining Erin Rawlick (2010), Jasmine DePompeo (2012, '13), Jenna Collins (2018), Kelly Larkin (2018, '19, '20), Nicole Victory (2021),
Alyssa Daley (2025),
Emily Messinese (2025),
Mikayla Williams (2026), and
Ava Yovino (2023, '24).
In April, Chung and Yovino became the third and fourth Midshipmen to advance to the Tewaaraton Award Top 25 Nominees, joining Jenna Collins in 2018 and Kelly Larkin in 2019.
With her selection to the top five, Chung becomes the first Midshipmen in program history to be named a finalist for the Tewaaraton.
Through the regular season, Chung leads Navy with 102 points on a team-high 72 goals and team-best 30 assists. With her 102 points, the sophomore became the sixth player in program history to record 100 or more points in a season, joining Jenna Collins (2017, '18), Julia Collins (2018), Jasmine DePompeo (2013), Kelly Larkin (2017, '18, '19), and Erin Rawlick (2010). Additionally, the Severna Park native adds 27 ground balls, 20 caused turnovers, and 15 draw controls.
Up next, the Navy women's lacrosse team is set to host NCAA Tournament first and second round games at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium for the first time since 2013. The Midshipmen earned the No. 6 seed for the NCAA Tournament, marking the highest seed in program history.
Navy (18-1) will host UMass (16-2) on Friday at 3:00 p.m. in the NCAA First Round, while Syracuse (13-5) will face Loyola (12-7) Friday at 7:00 p.m. The winners from Friday's games will meet on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. in the NCAA Second Round.
