ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Quentin Acree has joined the Navy men's basketball coaching staff as an assistant coach, head coach

Jon Perry announced today. Acree arrives in Annapolis after he spent the last three seasons as an assistant at Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Va.

"We are excited to welcome Quentin to our basketball family and the Naval Academy," said Perry. "He has demonstrated a strong ability to recruit, develop players and build lasting relationships. His background at Christopher Newport reflects a commitment to winning on and off the court. Most importantly, he aligns with who we are and what we stand for and will represent our program with professionalism, pride and integrity as we continue to build leaders of character for future service in the Navy and Marine Corps."

"Thank you to head coach

Jon Perry and the Naval Academy for this incredible opportunity," said Acree. "I am beyond grateful and excited to hit the ground running with the Midshipmen! I will be in a position to do what I love everyday, which is serve a purpose much greater than myself, and represent the United States and the Naval Academy. I don't think it gets much better than that. My time at Christopher Newport, under head coach John Krikoiran, has more than prepared me for this journey ahead. This does not happen without the many people who have greatly impacted my life and I am forever indebted to those individuals. With that being said, I am here and ready to work!"

Acree was part of staffs that compiled a 72-19 record during his three seasons at CNU. The Captains advanced to the Elite Eight round of the 2024 NCAA (DIII) Tournament, the second round in 2025 and the national semifinal this season. CNU also reached the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Tournament final in each of his three seasons and won the event in 2024.

The native of Tampa, Fla., attended Tampa Bay Tech where he was a three-time team captain and part of the program that won the district title as a senior with a 27-1 record. After graduating in 2017, he attended William Penn and Saint Leo, then transferred to Southern Virginia where he joined the basketball team for the 2019-20 season. That would be his lone season of playing college basketball as the 2020-21 campaign was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic and he elected to join the coaching staff as a student assistant during his senior season (2021-22) while completing his degree in business management (sport focus).

The Knights posted an overall record of 27-26 in his two seasons as part of the staff after they had totaled 20 victories in their prior four seasons of membership on the NCAA Division III level. He then started his three-year stint at Christopher Newport with the 2023-24 season.
