Naval Academy Access Policy Update and Shuttle Schedule for the Week of May 11
For access during athletic events, those with DoW or DBIDS ID cards will be allowed to walk or drive onto the Naval Academy. For those without these cards, shuttle busses will be run to provide access to the Naval Academy. These shuttles will depart from the bus stop at the Blue Angel at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. A 100% ID check will be in effect and you must have a REAL ID or a passport to get on the bus. You also must be an U.S. citizen to take advantage of the shuttle.
Effective Monday, May 11, 2026, General Public Visitation (GPV) will resume for the U.S. Naval Academy (USNA) and Naval Support Activity (NSA) Annapolis.
This change will take effect ahead of Commissioning Week 2026, including the Blue Angels Show and Herndon Climb.
While GPV is reinstated, the Trusted Traveler Program remains suspended
. Visitors should expect enhanced security measures and possible temporary access controls during highly attended events.
What to Expect

Foreign National Access
- Remains restricted for general public visitation
Accepted IDs for Visitors accessing through Pedestrian Gate 1 or Pedestrian Gate 8:

REAL ID-compliant Driver's License or State ID card (look for the five-point star on the card)

U.S. Passport or Passport Card (foreign passports are not permitted for general public access)

Enhanced Driver's License (EDL) issued by Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Vermont, or Washington
Additional Requirements

All persons 18 years of age and older must have a valid REAL ID-compliant credential, Enhanced Driver's License, or U.S. Passport.

Visitors under the age of 18 without a valid ID must be escorted by a responsible adult with a valid form of identification.

All visitors will undergo a bag check and magnetometer screening prior to entering the installation. Random personnel and vehicle searches will be conducted at all gates and throughout the installation.

Guests may board the shuttle from Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium to the Naval Academy only during the boarding windows listed for each day below. After those windows close, shuttle service will continue for return trips from the Naval Academy back to the stadium only.
