Melvin, Buck, and Fram Impress at Senior Worlds Trials/National Schools’ Regatta

WEST WINDSOR, N.J. — Columbia lightweight rowing alumnus Sam Melvin '19CC captured the men's single sculls Final A title Sunday at Mercer Lake, posting a winning time of 6:55.00 to lead the featured performances at the Senior Worlds Trials/National Schools' Regatta.

The Columbia alumni trio all appeared in finals over the weekend

WEST WINDSOR, N.J. — Columbia lightweight rowing alumnus Sam Melvin '19CC captured the men's single sculls Final A title Sunday at Mercer Lake, posting a winning time of 6:55.00 to lead the featured performances at the Senior Worlds Trials/National Schools' Regatta.

Representing New York AC, Melvin edged Jacob Plihal of USTC-Sarasota by nearly three seconds in the championship race. Melvin's time produced the top percentage off the course standard in the field at 94.46 percent.

In the women's pair Final A, women's rowing alumna Charlotte Buck '18CC placed fourth in a tightly contested field. Racing for USTC-Princeton B, her duo finished in 7:09.04, just over four seconds behind the winning boat.

Heavyweight rowing alumnus Kyle Fram '20SEAS added another strong result in the men's pair Final B. Rowing for Cambridge, Fram's crew crossed in fourth place with a time of 6:50.02.
