WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - Junior pitchers

Katie Blanch and

Natalie Carter threw a combined seven scoreless innings for the Williams College softball team during a 2-0 non-conference triumph over Smith Wednesday afternoon at Cole Field.

Carter earned her second victory of the season for the Ephs (18-12, 7-3 NESCAC), working the final four innings, as she retired the side in order during the fourth. Blanch pitched the first three innings for the hosts and did not give up a single hit. Sophie Hasegawa (2 for 3, one double) led the way for the Bears (15-14, 7-5 NEWMAC).

The Ephs scored twice during the bottom of the fourth, as first-year

Sidney Miller from third.

Junior

Emily Borrazzo, sophomore

Aleks Albert, first-year

Haley Barrett and Miller finished with one hit, respectively. The Ephs turned an outstanding 4-6-3 double play to end the top of the sixth, as Borrazzo fielded a sharply hit ball, and then flipped to Blanch, who proceeded to throw a rocket to junior

Justine Dunaway.

The Ephs compete against Middlebury in a doubleheader Saturday, with game times set for noon and 2 p.m. on Cole Field.
