Spartan Digest - Spring Week 11

A preview of the Case Western Reserve University varsity athletic events for the 11th week of the spring season (May 4-May 10) and a recap of the events from the previous week (April 27-May 3). Schedule is subject to change with updates posted on athletics.case.edu when they are known.

Last Week's Recap

Baseball (1-0)

• Defeated John Carroll, 11-10, in its season finale on Sunday in University Heights, Ohio

• Trailing 8-7 entering the seventh inning, the Spartans scored four times in the frame to take the lead and held on for a one-run win

• Senior Sean Donahue drove in three runs with three hits for CWRU, including a two-run single in the seventh that added a pair of key insurance runs for the Spartans

Softball (3-0)

• Won all three non-conference games last weekend, sweeping a doubleheader against Baldwin Wallace in Berea, Ohio, on Saturday, and defeating Heidelberg in a single game on Sunday at home

• Defeated the Yellow Jackets 10-5 in the first game and 7-1 in the second contest, before besting the Student Princes 5-2

• First-year catcher Sophia Becker had the first two-homer game of her career, slugging a pair of round trippers against Heidelberg in the win. She was named the UAA Hitter of the Week for her performance

Men's and Women's Track & Field

• Competed at the Jesse Owens Classic in Columbus, Ohio, on Friday and Saturday

• Senior Jack Blais placed 10th in the long jump, first-year Anna Callo tied for 18th in the pole vault, and senior Anthony DeCarlo finished 10th in the pole vault
