#13 Women’s Squash Stumbles Against #16 Williams

The #13/top-seeded Middlebury women's squash team suffered a 6-3 setback in Saturday's College Squash Association (CSA) Kurtz Cup semifinal matchup against #16 Williams in Philadelphia.

The #13/top-seeded Middlebury women's squash team suffered a 6-3 setback in Saturday's College Squash Association (CSA) Kurtz Cup semifinal matchup against #16 Williams in Philadelphia.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Sophia Koehler and Anika Kakarla opened the match with straight-game wins in the sixth and seventh spots, respectively, giving the Ephs a 2-0 lead.

Lindsey Burnham interrupted the momentum with a 3-1 victory at #1. The Panther notched 11-9 and 11-3 results in the first two games and an 11-8 decision in the third to prevail over Rhea Pandit.

  • Williams claimed the ensuing four matchups. Alicia Chen and Roshni Pal tallied a sweep and four-game triumph from the eighth and fifth slots, before Melanie Wang clinched the match with a marathon triumph (11-8, 9-11, 6-11, 11-7, 11-8) over

Aanvi Anand at #2.

  • After Naomi Jefferson-Sambanis earned a four-game win in the ninth spot,

Sabrina Schwarz and Izzy Ronda concluded the match on a high note. Schwarz swept Rachel Miller at #4, while Ronda conceded just one point in the second game of a three-game decision at #3 (11-9, 11-1, 11-8).
