Jumbo Women's Squash Team Travels To CSA National Team Championships This Weekend

MEDFORD, MA (March 3, 2026) -- The long season for the No. 12 Tufts University women's squash team will come to an end this upcoming weekend on the biggest stage, as the Jumbos qualified for the biggest tournament in collegiate women's squash, the Howe Cup, which will be played at the Arlen Specter US Squash Center in Philadelphia starting Thursday.

MEDFORD, MA (March 3, 2026) -- The long season for the No. 12 Tufts University women's squash team will come to an end this upcoming weekend on the biggest stage, as the Jumbos qualified for the biggest tournament in collegiate women's squash, the Howe Cup, which will be played at the Arlen Specter US Squash Center in Philadelphia starting Thursday.

Tufts will be looking to snap a stretch of back-to-back losses, though the defeats came to No. 5 Trinity in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) title match followed by a 9-0 loss to No. 4 Harvard University. Tufts will be the No. 12 seed in the 12-team tournament, and will be looking for its first-ever win in the highest tiered tournament of collegiate squash.

A Look At The Jumbos

Tufts has had a strong season overall, going 11-7 while playing virtually every team inside the top 10 this campaign. Tufts has squared off with eight teams inside the top 10 this season, earning an impressive 5-4 win over No. 7 Amherst College in the NESCAC semifinals to reach its fifth straight NESCAC title match.

The Jumbos have been ranked as high as No. 10 in the CSA rankings this season, holding that for six weeks during the year. Tufts will take on Trinity College in the opening round Thursday at 3 p.m. Thursday, the third time the Bantams and Jumbos will square off.

Tufts has posted a match winning percentage of .562 on the year, led by the stellar efforts at No. 1 and No. 5 with Tufts going 13-5 in those spots this season. Senior captain and standout

Vharsha Dinesh will play her last weekend for the Jumbos this season after a historic career, as she has gone 11-4 on the season while winning nine of her last ten overall.

Junior

Maria Arsenieva has played No. 2 for the majority of the season, winning five times during the campaign, while four different players have won at least twice at No. 3 highlighted by 3-3 records by both first-year

Ella Hill and sophomore

Sohni Vermani. Vermani is 3-1 at No. 4 this season, while Hill has been playing there recently and is 3-2 while going 7-7 overall.

Sophomore

Anika Goyal has been very strong with a team-high 13 wins this season, picking up wins in the top five spots including a 7-2 mark at No. 5. Junior

Chloe Bergam is 9-8 overall this year, and has played at the No. 6 position primarily, while No. 7 has been the toughest position for the Jumbos with a win clip of just .333.

Indira Moshi is 5-4 at No. 8 this year, earning eight victories overall on the year while

Anika Parr had five of her nine wins at the No. 9 position. Senior

Mafi Pinot and sophomore

Sora Karanja could also be options at No. 9 as the pair has combined for nine wins.

The Jumbos have had a pair of three-match win streaks this season, and have played well on the road especially down south after earning a 6-3 win over Georgetown back on January 16.

The Other Seeds

Princeton University is the top seed for the women this weekend, while the University of Pennsylvania, Stanford University and Harvard University round out the top four while each getting byes.

The University of Virginia is No. 6, Cornell University is slotted No. 7 and Yale University is No. 8 while playing host and No. 9 Drexel. Amherst College is No. 10, while Dartmouth College rounds out the field at No. 11.
