HARTFORD, CT. - Marking a stellar team finish on Saturday evening, the Wesleyan women's track and field team garnered a first-place finish at the Trinity Invitational, hosted by Trinity College, as the team beat out 12 other institutions in the pool of 13 with four first-place victories.

RESULTS

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Placing first in the 800m, Elanora Smith '27 rallied the Cardinals with a 2:16.63 finish and was followed by Ellie Green in fourth place with a 2:18.77 final time.

  • Virginia Lessner '28 won the 1500m, running a final 4:46.83.Kaitlyn Connors '29placed second with a 4:47.45 and Genevieve Minard '28 placed fourth with a 4:51.58.

  • The 5000m went to Alexandra Weingard '28 as she crossed the finish line at 18:17.94. Placing third was Grace Baum '29 with a 18.56.59 and Sofia Magnera '28 finished fourth with a final 19:11.44.

  • Naomi McGadney '27 was the top finish in the women's javelin throw, placing first as she reached a final distance of 37.17m. McGadney also placed fourth in the shot put, throwing for 11.24m.

  • Juliette Sullivan '27cleared top finishes in the sprint events, placing second in the 200m with a 25.14 and fifth place in the 100m at 12.65.

  • In the triple jump, Katherine Goss '29reached 10.78m, placing fifth.

The Cardinals will take a week to prepare for the 2026 NESCAC Championships beginning Saturday, April 25 at Williams.

After playing to a deadlocked score at the half, the No. 12 ranked Wesleyan men's lacrosse team outscored No. 5 Christopher Newport 10-2 in the second half to land a convincing 15-7 win over the Captains on Saturday night in the NCAA Quarterfinal round from Bello Field on the campus of Tufts University. With the win, the Cardinals (14-4) advance to the NCAA Semifinals for the fifth time in team history and first since 2018.

A career game from Bridget Horst '26 and a sensational defensive display headlined by a 12-save outing from Izzy Weintraub '26 proved more than enough for the No. 2 Wesleyan women's lacrosse team in a 14-7 win over No. 21 UChicago on Saturday in the Third Round of the NCAA Tournament. The Cardinals (17-3) advance to the NCAA Quarterfinal round where they will play host to No. 10 Trinity on Sunday at 2 PM with a spot in the Final Four on the line.

Seven Cardinals Named IWLCA All-Region

Seven members of the Wesleyan women's lacrosse team were honored by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) today when the organization announced its 2026 Division III All-Region Teams. Highlighting the list are Berkshire Region First Team selections Addie Cummings '26, Lindsey Diomede '26, Bridget Horst '26, Molly Simon '26, Lilly Stoller '26, Izzy Weintraub '26 as well as Second Team pick Dylan Green '26.
