No. 6 Women’s Crew Wins Two of Three Races to Begin the Spring Season

The No. 6 Wesleyan women's crew team opened the 2026 spring season with a pair of wins from the 2nd varsity 8 and 3rd varsity 8 boats on Saturday morning at the Jennifer McLaughlin Cup hosted by WPI on Lake Quinsigamond. The Cardinals competed against No. 4 Smith, No. 12 Colby, and WPI on the day.

WORCESTER, Mass. – The No. 6 Wesleyan women's crew team opened the 2026 spring season with a pair of wins from the 2

nd varsity 8 and 3

rd varsity 8 boats on Saturday morning at the Jennifer McLaughlin Cup hosted by WPI on Lake Quinsigamond. The Cardinals competed against No. 4 Smith, No. 12 Colby, and WPI on the day.

Competing on a picture-perfect Saturday morning in Worcester with a direct tailwind, the 2

nd Varsity 8 boat raced out to a 10-second win as the Cardinal boat posted a time of 6:57.2 to best the runner-up Smith (7:07.2) while Colby and WPI rounded out the field.

The 3

rd Varsity 8 boat also won convincingly with a time of 7:00.3 that was more than eight seconds faster than Smith's 3V8 (7:08.6) and more than 12 seconds faster than the third place finisher (Smith's 4V8 – 7:12.9).

Wesleyan's Varsity 8 boat managed a third place showing in the season-opener, clocking in at 6:47.4, finishing behind Colby (6:43.5) and Smith (6:47.4) and ahead of the host WPI (6:59.7).

The Cardinals are back in the water on Saturday, April 11 with a trip to the Malden River for a race against host Tufts, Bates, and Wellesley.

After playing to a deadlocked score at the half, the No. 12 ranked Wesleyan men's lacrosse team outscored No. 5 Christopher Newport 10-2 in the second half to land a convincing 15-7 win over the Captains on Saturday night in the NCAA Quarterfinal round from Bello Field on the campus of Tufts University. With the win, the Cardinals (14-4) advance to the NCAA Semifinals for the fifth time in team history and first since 2018.

Horst’s Seven-Point Game Leads No. 2 Wesleyan Past No. 21 UChicago into NCAA Quarterfinals

A career game from Bridget Horst '26 and a sensational defensive display headlined by a 12-save outing from Izzy Weintraub '26 proved more than enough for the No. 2 Wesleyan women's lacrosse team in a 14-7 win over No. 21 UChicago on Saturday in the Third Round of the NCAA Tournament. The Cardinals (17-3) advance to the NCAA Quarterfinal round where they will play host to No. 10 Trinity on Sunday at 2 PM with a spot in the Final Four on the line.

Seven Cardinals Named IWLCA All-Region

Seven members of the Wesleyan women's lacrosse team were honored by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) today when the organization announced its 2026 Division III All-Region Teams. Highlighting the list are Berkshire Region First Team selections Addie Cummings '26, Lindsey Diomede '26, Bridget Horst '26, Molly Simon '26, Lilly Stoller '26, Izzy Weintraub '26 as well as Second Team pick Dylan Green '26.
