Bantams Capture Team Title at UHart/Trinity Invitational

HARTFORD, Conn. – The Trinity College women's golf team captured the title this weekend at the UHart/Trinity Invitational, held at Rockledge Golf Club in West Hartford, Connecticut. The two-day event featured round one on Saturday, April 18, followed by round two on Sunday, April 19. Rockledge Golf Club is an 18-hole, par-72 course measuring 5,722 yards.

HARTFORD, Conn. – The Trinity College women's golf team captured the title this weekend at the UHart/Trinity Invitational, held at Rockledge Golf Club in West Hartford, Connecticut. The two-day event featured round one on Saturday, April 18, followed by round two on Sunday, April 19.

First-year CC Kaplan made history in the first round on Saturday carding a 71, one under par, marking the first player in program history to finish under par!

Rockledge Golf Club is an 18-hole, par-72 course measuring 5,722 yards.

What Happened:

After the opening round, Trinity held first place with a seven-stroke lead over Bentley. Junior C.C. Kaplan led the Bantams with an impressive one-under-par 71, highlighted by an eagle on the 435-yard, par-5 ninth hole. She also recorded four birdies on holes 5, 7, 11, and 16.

Despite cold and rainy conditions on Sunday, Trinity maintained its lead and improved its team performance, posting a score 10 strokes better than Saturday's round (+32). Mia Lombardi paced the Bantams in round two, finishing at three-over par for the day. Her strong performance moved her up 11 spots on the leaderboard into sixth place overall.

Kaplan shot a 78 (+6) on Sunday to finish at five-over par for the tournament (71–78), securing the individual title. Bentley's Isabel Gonzales placed second with rounds of 77 and 75 (+8), while Bates College's Isabelle Meltzer, competing as an individual, finished third at 12-over par.

Trinity also saw strong finishes from Himena Yamane, Kira Kilgore, and Meg Lavinder, who placed seventh, eighth, and ninth, respectively. Yamane carded an 80 (+8) on Sunday after an opening-round 87. Kilgore improved four spots on Sunday to finish at 27-over par while competing as an individual. Lavinder rebounded from a 16-over performance on Saturday to shoot 12-over in the final round, finishing at +28 overall.

Kotto Freeman rounded out the Bantams' efforts, finishing 13th overall after climbing four spots in Sunday's round.

Up Next:

The Bantams will travel to Williamstown, Mass. for the New England Small College Athletic Conference Championship held over the weekend of May 1st-May 3rd. The Championship will be played at Taconic Golf Club, tee times will be announced closer to the weekend.
