Hadley, Mass. — The New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) announced its 2026 Women's Lacrosse All-Conference teams today, recognizing two standout members of the Colby defensive unit. Sophomore
Gisele Uva has been named to the All-NESCAC First Team, while senior
Izzy Wang has earned a spot on the All-NESCAC Second Team.
The pair anchors a resilient Colby defense that has powered the Mules to nine wins on the season and a 24th consecutive appearance in the NESCAC Championship Tournament.
Following a stellar debut season, Uva has established herself as the primary communicator for the back line. The Boylston, Massachusetts, native played a multi-faceted role for the Mules, leading the team in caused turnovers (20) and ground balls (24) while also racking up 32 draw controls—the third-highest total on the roster. While her primary impact came on the defensive end, Uva provided an offensive highlight against Bowdoin scoring a goal that ended up being pivotal in the thrilling 13-12 victory. This marks Uva's first career All-NESCAC selection.
Wang in her final season on Mayflower Hill has earned her second career All-NESCAC selection, having previously been named to the Second Team in 2024. As a veteran leader of the defensive unit, Wang has been a premier lockdown defender in the conference for a team that held four NESCAC opponents to 10 goals or fewer. Known for her defensive IQ, she delivered one of her best performances of the season against Wesleyan, contributing five ground balls and a caused turnover. The Concord, New Hampshire native has totaled 22 ground balls this season for the second most on the team while picking up seven caused turnovers and nine draw controls. Wang's consistency and presence have been vital to the Mules' defensive identity throughout her senior campaign.
Watch out for these two and the rest of the Mules this weekend as the season continues after earning an at-large bid for the 2026 NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Championship tournament. Colby will travel to Middletown, Connecticut, to face Cortland in the opening round this Saturday, May 9th. Stay tuned for more information.
