Men's lacrosse's Andrew Toland picks up NESCAC Player of the Week honors

Toland (Hingham, Mass.) is the first Bates men's lacrosse player to earn NESCAC Player of the Week since
Matt Chlastawa '20 in 2019 and the first Bobcat goalie to pick up the honor since
**Charlie Kazarian '14 **in 2013. Toland was also named
USA Lacrosse Magazine's Division III Player of the Week.
The Bobcats were unranked when they visited Middletown, Conn. on Saturday and they ended up beating No. 6 nationally ranked Wesleyan by a score of 13-11. Toland's 20 saves were accompanied by an impressive save percentage of .645 in the victory. He also picked up a pair of ground balls. Toland has made 43 saves with a save percentage of .589 through three games so far this season.
Senior captain
Connor Hartman (Hingham, Mass.) also received recognition for his performance Saturday at Wesleyan. He was named to the
USILA Division III Team of the Week after leading all scorers with four goals, scoring twice in the first quarter and once each in the third and fourth frames against the Cardinals.
Bates (3-0) is already receiving some attention for their early success. The Bobcats are now ranked 13th in the country by USA Lacrosse and 20th by the USILA. They return to action Tuesday evening to take on Emerson at 5:30 p.m. It's the home opener for Bates after three road contests to start the year.
