Men's track and field takes on regional competition at Amherst Spring Fling

The Bates men's track and field team competed against a host of regional opponents on Saturday at the Amherst Spring Fling, a non-scoring meet. The Bobcats took on the likes of host Amherst, Brandeis, Bridgewater State, Middlebury, Plattsburgh State, RPI, St. Olaf, Tufts, and Wesleyan.

AMHERST, Mass. -- The Bates men's track and field team competed against a host of regional opponents on Saturday at the Amherst Spring Fling, a non-scoring meet.

The Bobcats took on the likes of host Amherst, Brandeis, Bridgewater State, Middlebury, Plattsburgh State, RPI, St. Olaf, Tufts, and Wesleyan.

Meet Highlights

  • Junior Evan Berthiaume (East Greenwich, R.I.) placed second in his section and seventh overall in the 100-meter dash with a personal-record time of 10.76 seconds, good for fourth on the Bates top 10 all-time performance list. Berthiaume also impressed in the 200-meter dash, winning his section and taking 10th overall with a time of 22.37 seconds.

  • Senior captain Ross Tejeda (Milton, Mass.) took third in the 800 meters in 1:52.39 and junior Miles Logan (Brunswick, Maine) was sixth in 1:52.85. Logan's personal-record time puts him ninth on the Bates top 10 all-time performance list.

  • Senior captain Evan Migdole (Westbrook, Conn.) finished third in the 400-meter hurdles in 54.80 seconds.

  • Junior Daniel Cassata (Annandale, Va.) was the runner-up in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in a personal-best time of 9:41.20. Junior Liam Thomson (Arlington, Va.) took fourth in 9:48.68.

  • Senior Alec Pawlowicz (Narragansett, R.I.) placed fifth in the javelin with a personal-record toss of 166-8 (50.79m).

The Bobcats are back in action next weekend when they head to Rhode Island for the Providence Friar Invite and Massachusetts for the Tufts University Sunshine Classic.
