Women's track and field shines at Amherst Spring Fling

The Bates women's track and field team competed against a host of regional opponents on Saturday at the Amherst Spring Fling, a non-scoring meet. The Bobcats took on the likes of host Amherst, Brandeis, Bridgewater State, Middlebury, Mount Holyoke, Plattsburgh State, RPI, Tufts, and Wesleyan.

AMHERST, Mass. -- The Bates women's track and field team competed against a host of regional opponents on Saturday at the Amherst Spring Fling, a non-scoring meet.

The Bobcats took on the likes of host Amherst, Brandeis, Bridgewater State, Middlebury, Mount Holyoke, Plattsburgh State, RPI, Tufts, and Wesleyan.

Meet Highlights

  • Junior Anushka Chavda (Nottingham, N.H.) won her section and placed seventh overall in the 100-meter dash in 12.40 seconds, good for second on the Bates top 10 all-time performance list.

  • First-year Charlotte Everhart (Vienna, Va.) won the 400-meter dash in 58.04 seconds, good for fourth on the Bates top 10 all-time performance list.

  • Sophomore Graca Bila (Westbrook, Maine) placed ninth in the 100-meter hurdles in 15.70 seconds, enough for seventh on the Bates top 10 all-time performance list.

  • Sophomore Mikayla Ferguson (Winchester, Mass.) took fifth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 11:34.67.

  • Junior Lia Traficonte (Cumberland, Maine), sophomore Madison Alves (Stoneham, Mass.), Bila, and Chavda teamed up to finish fourth in the 4x100 relay in 48.68 seconds, good for sixth on the Bates top 10 all-time performance list.

  • Junior Alannah Ardrey (New York, N.Y.) took second in the high jump with a top effort of 5-1.75 (1.57m).

  • Sophomore Juno Rogers (Decatur, Ga.) was sixth in the long jump with a leap of 17-0 (5.18m), tied for 10th on the Bates top 10 all-time performance list.

  • First-year Alisandra Lindos (Westbrook, Maine) won the triple jump with a mark of 37-7.25 (11.46m).

  • Sophomore Marie-Ève Maillet (Saint-Antoine, New Brunswick) finished fifth in the shot put with a top throw of 37-2.25 (11.33m).

  • Sophomore Darby Nicholson (Franklin, Mass.) finished sixth in the discus with a personal-record throw of 118-3 (36.04m), good for sixth on the Bates top 10 all-time performance list.

  • Senior captain Carli Ciavarelli (Ridgefield, Conn.) took fourth in the hammer throw with a toss of 153-4 (46.73m).

The Bobcats are back in action next weekend when they head to Rhode Island for the Providence Friar Invite and Massachusetts for the Tufts University Sunshine Classic.
