Rickheim, Kang Hit Homers, Baseball Falls at Holy Cross, 12-9

Jordan Kang each hit a home run, but Harvard University baseball fell at Holy Cross, 12-9, on Tuesday evening at Fitton Field in the Crimson's non-league finale.

Playing in its final mid-week game to close the month of April, the Crimson (8-26) scored seven of the game's final nine runs before the host Crusaders (19-25) held on for the decision.

Kang went 4-for-5 with a home run, two RBIs, and a run launching his fourth homer of the season while Rickheim blasted his team-high eighth homer of the year and 10

Gavin Smith notched a 3-for-6 day with an RBI.

Harvard Highlights

• Senior third baseman Jordan Kang went 4-for-5 with a home run, two RBIs, and a run. He launched his fourth homer of the year and 11th homer of his career. He set a new season high with four hits.

• Junior shortstop Jack Rickheim hit his eighth home run of the season and the 10th homer of his career, finishing the game with a home run, two RBIs, and two runs.

• Senior center fielder Max Lane posted a 3-for-6 effort with three RBIs, a double, and a run scored. He matched his season high with three hits.

• Sophomore left fielder Gavin Smith registered a season-best three hits alongside an RBI.

• Senior first baseman Gio Colasante tallied two runs, a hit, and an RBI.

• Out of the bullpen, junior right-hander Ryan McHugh and first-year left-hander Brett Gable each threw an inning of scoreless relief. McHugh notched two strikeouts while Gable added a strikeout of his own.

• As a team, Harvard totaled 15 hits, tying for its second most in a game this season. The Crimson recorded double-figure hits for the ninth time in 2026.

How It Happened

• In the top of the third, Rickheim opened the scoring with a solo home run – his eighth homer of the year – to left field before Lane sent an RBI single up the middle to give the Crimson a 2-0 lead.

• The Crusaders plated six runs in the bottom of the third to move ahead 6-2. The stanza included a two-run home run for the hosts.

• Holy Cross added four runs in the last of the fifth to take a 10-2 edge.

• Harvard responded with four runs in the top of the seventh to pull within 10-6. Kang started the rally with a two-run home run to left field before Lane hit an RBI double to left center and Smith sent an RBI single into left field.

• The hosts notched two runs in the bottom half of the seventh to make the margin 12-6.

• The Crimson plated three runs in the top of the ninth to pull within 12-9 before the Crusaders closed the contest. In the frame, Rickheim brought home a run with a sacrifice fly, Colasante scored a run after absorbing a hit by pitch, and Lane capped the game's scoring with an RBI single to left field.
