#21 Women's Lacrosse Rides Third Consecutive 20-Goal Game to Win over Eagles

CHICAGO - The 21st-ranked University of Chicago women's lacrosse team erupted for a dominant offensive performance Friday night, defeating the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse 20–7 at home to improve to 10-4 on the season.

CHICAGO -- The 21st-ranked University of Chicago women's lacrosse team erupted with a dominant offensive performance Friday night, defeating the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse 20–7 at home to improve to 10-4 on the season.

After a back-and-forth opening quarter, the Maroons took control in the second and exploded on offense with a massive surge.

UChicago struck first just 45 seconds into the game when

Kaylin Oey finished an assist from

Avery Song. The Eagles responded with back-to-back goals to take a brief 2-1 lead, but

Peyton McGuire answered to even the score at two by the end of the first.

The game turned in the second quarter. Clinging to a narrow one-score lead midway through the period, the Maroons exploded on a 6-0 run over the final three minutes of the period. Multiple goals from McGuire and

Wynne Boggan jumped the momentum on the offense that sent the Maroons into the half with an 11-4 advantage.

The Maroons continued to pour it on in the third, notching on five more goals.

Kelly Callaghan and

Avery Song each found the back of the net twice in the period, pushing the lead to 10 heading into the fourth.

In the final period, UChicago added four more goals, including strikes from

Caroline Steinwachs,

Grace Hopkins,

Kailee See, and Callaghan, to cap off the Maroons' third 20-goal game.

McGuire led all scorers with four goals, while Song, Callaghan, and Boggan each recorded hat tricks. Hopkins, Oey, and Steinwachs added two goals apiece as the Maroons had eight different players record a goal.

Defensively,

Lily Brill recorded four saves on seven goal attempts.

With the win, the Maroons improve to 10-4 overall on the season. UChicago will return to action next week as they remain home for a Thursday night matchup with (RV) Colorado College.
