#20 Women's Lacrosse Dominates Illinois Wesleyan in Midweek Matchup

CHICAGO- The 20th-ranked University of Chicago women's lacrosse team dominated in a win over Illinois Wesleyan University on Wednesday night at Stagg Field. After falling to Middlebury earlier in the week, the Maroons took down the Titans with a season-high 23 goals.

UChicago jumped out to its hot start less than two minutes into the game clock as

Wynne Boggan found

Avery Song for its first goal of the game. Less than a minute later, Boggan found the back of the net to put the Maroons up by two. UChicago's sticks lit it up as within the next five minutes, they scored eight goals by six different Maroons.

Up by 10, the Titans showed fight scoring inside to get on the board, but the Maroons quickly answered as

Nicoletta Tsiamis found

Ella Kodl on a cut to put the lead back to double-digits. To close out the first quarter, the Maroons held a 12-1 lead.

The Maroons continued their offensive surge in the second, adding to their lead as

Rae Hanlon tallied twice in the quarter, while

Sora Choi and

Cameron Lienhardt also scored. The Maroons' defense remained steady, limiting the Titans' opportunities and taking a comfortable 18-2 lead into halftime.

UChicago kept its foot on the gas coming out of the break. Goals from

Grace Harrell,

Kali Konstantinakos, and

Emily Sensenich put the Maroons on another high-offensive stretch. Despite a goal from Illinois Wesleyan, the Maroons maintained control of the game.

UChicago capped off the victory with a strong final quarter. Tsiamis added her third goal of the game, and

Teaghan Casey contributed a score as the Maroons continued to apply pressure. UChicago held on for the dominant 23-4 result.

Overall, UChicago showed its dominance as 13 different Maroons scored in the contest. Boggan and Tsiamis led the way with three goals apiece, while McGuire added four points on two goals and two assists. Choi anchored the defensive effort with three caused turnovers.

Kate Snyder combined to limit Illinois Wesleyan to just four goals.

The Maroons have a week break before heading to Wisconsin to take on Carroll University next Wednesday at 6 p.m.
